Application Problem: Level sensors installed on conical silos experienced unstable measurement as the material level reached the transition between the silo’s straight section and the cone during emptying.
History: A remote troubleshooting session was conducted after the customer emptied the cement silo. Echo profiles showed significant false echoes and high noise near the cone transition, preventing reliable level tracking.
Solution: The ABM Cone Filter was enabled, allowing the ultrasonic sensor to accurately track the material level through the cone transition and down to the bottom of the silo. The updated echo profile showed a smooth transition with greatly reduced false echoes, resulting in stable and reliable level measurement throughout the entire emptying process.
