Hygienic Level Measurement in Food Processing Tank

Application Problem: A food manufacturer required level measurement in a processing tank with clean-in-place (CIP).

Application History: The food processing tank required a level sensor with a sanitary / hygienic process connection, and durability to withstand the CIP steam cleaning.

Solution: ABM’s sanitary non-contact ultrasonic level sensor was selected for the application. The sensor offers 1 ½” and 2” tri-clamp mounting for simple installation. The ultrasonic sensors transducer face is made a 316L stainless steel, compatible for food grade applications. There is no need to remove the sensor during CIP as the sensor is not influenced by the air pressure valve. The self-cleaning operation automatically removes condensation from the transducer face for reliable, maintenance free operation.
